“Trois arches et drapé”
Mathilde Lestiboudois. “Trois arches et drapé”, 2021. Oil on canvas, 110 x 160 cm. 3,200 Euros
Through the medium of painting, Mathilde Lestiboudois represents empty interior spaces. Interweaving architectural fragments, objects and geometric shapes, the artist questions space and its temporal dimension. She is inspired by memories, readings, films, places and objects from her everyday life, to then compose scenes unique to her imagination.
Mathilde Lestiboudois creates a painting that is both conceptual and figurative through strange spatial compositions. Thus, it represents non-places, mental spaces, which oscillate between real and imaginary, between figuration and abstraction. Mathilde Lestiboudois is gradually building my own universe, strangely empty, where silence reigns, both soothing and mysterious.
