“I dug in the earth to reveal its root”

“I dug in the earth to reveal its roots”, 2020. Ceramic, 17 x 18 x 13 cm.

The earth is covered with concrete preventing it from breathing. However, inhabits this world a whole underground universe teeming with life and constituting an insidious wealth, invisible at first glance. This sculpture with weed heads reveals the mysterious essence of plants: the roots.
“They are hidden and invisible to the vast majority of animal organisms that vie for the limelight on the boards of dry land. Embedded in a compartmentalized and cryptic world, they pass their lives without having the slightest suspicion of the explosion of forms and of events that bubble between earth and sky. Roots are the most enigmatic forms of the plant world.” Emanuele Coccia, Plant Life – A Metaphysics of Mixture. Shores Library – 2016
