“Allegories”
In art (painting, sculpture, film, etc.), an allegory is a work in which each element evokes an aspect of a complex idea. Through its signified and signifier, the book conveys an idea and thus lends itself perfectly to this mode of expression. Also, I staged books in 34 sequence shots lasting a maximum of one minute.
The choice of books, the places in which I filmed them, are spontaneous or more thoughtful, depending. The staging can be a mise en abyme, a redundancy when it insists for example on a title or the name of an author. All figures of speech are an invitation to imagine your own story.
