Dans sa pratique, Arnaud Vasseux donne une place déterminante à l’approche et à la manipulation des matériaux dans l’élaboration du sens.
Attentif aux changements d’états et aux phases de transition, il interroge autant la nature que l’usage de ce qui constitue la sculpture et fait advenir des formes qui combinent fragilité, instabilité et résistance.
Son travail met en jeu les notions d’espace, de temporalité distinctes et de lieu par l’exploration des possibilités issues des techniques du moulage et de l’empreinte. Ses sculptures, le plus souvent éphémères et construites à même le lieu naissent d’une confrontation sensible et inquiète de l’espace physique et de son histoire, faisant de l’exposition un moment d’intensification de l’expérience, d’hypothèses et de récits.
Parmi ses expositions récentes, nous signalons les expositions personnelles Du double au singulier au Frac Occitanie Montpellier et au musée Henri Prades – site archéologique Lattara (2017), Mémoires matérielles à la galerie Particulière, à Bruxelles (2016), Physique des surfaces à la galerie White Project à Paris (2015), Continuum, murmure au Domaine de Kerguéhennec (2013).
