Tachdjian Jean-Jacques
Pilier de l’underground hexagonal depuis les années 1980 sous le surnom d’El Rotringo, Jean-Jacques Tachdjian est né à Lille le même jour qu’un soir d’orage en Californie lors d’un concert de rock’n’roll et peu de temps avant le lancement du premier satellite artificiel (spoutnik 1), inaugurant ainsi l’ère de l’espace.
C’est à peine un mois plus tard que les scientifiques de l’empire des soviets envoyèrent la chienne griller lors de sa rentrée dans l’atmosphère après quelques révolutions (appréciez l’ironie) autour de notre merveilleuse planète, en faisant ainsi un vivant sacrifice au progrès de l’intelligence et de la sensibilité humaine de l’humanité compatissant pâtissière.
Depuis lors Jean Jacques commet avec elle (la chienne) des expériences activistes autour de l’image et de toutes ses formes.
Issu de la scène Punk (il fit partie de nombreux groupes), il rejette les traditions qui imposent d’œuvrer dans des règles préétablies.
Si il s’inspire à ses débuts de la bande dessinée underground californienne ; ses créations se caractérisent par des couleurs acides et par un humour décalé.
Aujourd’hui, Jean-Jacques Tachdjian se concentre sur la création éditoriale au sein de sa maison d’édition La Chienne où il concocte éditions, expositions, graphisme, illustration et vidéo psychédéliques, comix abstrait, bandes dessinées, art artistique avec de vrais morceaux de plastique contemporain décoratif dedans, typographie se côtoient dans une approche libre et poétique toujours à l’avant-garde.
Parmi ses expos, une mémorable à la galerie Overtones en 2006 avec Robert Williams, Jonathon Rosen et en présence de Wanda Coleman, une très grande dame de la poésie noire Californienne, qui nous a quitté, hélas, depuis lors. Aussi une Retrospective à la Condition Publique de Roubaix (Nographie /2009) et bien d’autres.

A pillar of the hexagonal underground since the 1980s under the nickname El Rotringo, Jean-Jacques Tachdjian was born in Lille on the same day as a stormy evening in California during a rock'n'roll concert and shortly before the launch of the first artificial satellite (sputnik 1), thus ushering in the space age.
It was barely a month later that the scientists of the Soviet empire sent the dog to the grill when it re-entered the atmosphere after a few revolutions (appreciate the irony) around our wonderful planet, thus making it a living one. sacrifice to the progress of intelligence and human sensitivity of compassionate pastry-making humanity.
Since then Jean Jacques has been carrying out activist experiences with her (the dog) around the image and all its forms.
Coming from the Punk scene (he was part of many groups), he rejects traditions that require working within pre-established rules.
If he was inspired by his early days in underground Californian comics; his creations are characterized by acid colors and quirky humor.
Today, Jean-Jacques Tachdjian focuses on editorial creation within his publishing house La Chienne where he concocts editions, exhibitions, graphics, illustration and psychedelic video, abstract comix, comics, artistic art with real pieces contemporary plastic decorative inside, typography come together in a free and poetic approach always at the forefront.
Among his exhibitions, a memorable one at the Overtones gallery in 2006 with Robert Williams, Jonathon Rosen and in the presence of Wanda Coleman, a very great lady of Californian black poetry, who has unfortunately left us since then. Also a Retrospective at the Condition Publique in Roubaix (Nography / 2009) and many others.
