Putker Jaco
Jaco Putker (1971) est un artiste contemporain et un graveur de La Haye, aux Pays-Bas. Il combine des techniques numériques et traditionnelles pour produire des images à la fois ludiques et sinistres, nostalgiques et magiques.
Sa technique de prédilection est la gravure au photopolymère, ou plaque solaire. Cette technique est une manière non toxique de graver qui permet des représentations photoréalistes. Plutôt que d'imposer une signification à son travail, Jaco Putker invite les spectateurs à s'associer librement et à donner à ses gravures une signification personnelle à travers des perceptions et des filtres individuels.
Les titres des gravures sont descriptifs et ne donnent aucune indication sur la signification des œuvres. L'artiste considère ses œuvres comme des illustrations de fables qui n'existent pas, mais qui, espérons-le, prennent forme dans l'esprit des spectateurs.
Jaco Putker a été récompensé par le concours national néerlandais Business Art Service pour les arts graphiques en 2010. Il a remporté deux fois le prix Awagami Paper Factory (lors de l'exposition internationale de gravures miniatures Awagami), en 2015 et en 2017.
En 2017, il a remporté le prix international de gravure ON PAPER 2017, et le prix d'excellence à la "Authentic Marks 2nd Annual International Miniature Printmaking Exhibition 2018" à Dubaï. En 2021, il a obtenu le premier prix de l'Art Open 20x20 Miniprint Internacional Barcelona.
Ses œuvres ont été exposées dans toute l'Europe, ainsi qu'en Chine, au Japon, en Corée du Sud, à Taïwan, en Thaïlande, en Australie, en Argentine, au Canada et aux États-Unis.
Jaco Putker (1971) is a contemporary artist and printmaker from The Hague, The Netherlands. He combines digital and traditional techniques to produce images which are both playful and sinister, nostalgic and magical.
His preferred medium is photopolymer, or solar plate, etching. This technique is a non-toxic way of etching which allow for photorealistic depictions. Rather than impose a meaning to his work, Jaco Putker invites the viewers to associate freely and give his etchings personal significance through individual perceptions and filters.
The titles of the etchings are descriptive and give no handle as to the meaning of the works. The artist considers his works to be illustrations to fables which don't exist, but hopefully take shape in the beholders' minds.
Jaco Putker was awarded with the Dutch national Business Art Service competition for Graphic Arts in 2010. He won the Awagami Paper Factory Prize (at the Awagami International Miniature Print Exhibition) twice; in 2015, and again in 2017.
In 2017 he won the ON PAPER International Printmaking Award 2017, and the Award of Excellence at the “Authentic Marks 2nd Annual International Miniature Printmaking Exhibition 2018” in Dubai. In 2021 he was awarded first prize at the Art Open 20x20 Miniprint Internacional Barcelona.
His work has been exhibited throughout Europe, as well as in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, Argentina, Canada and the USA.
