Lebourgeois Delphine
Delphine Lebourgeois a étudié les Beaux-Arts à Lyon puis a obtenu un Master en Illustration à Central St Martins en 2005.
Elle travaille sur différents supports tels que le numérique, le collage, le crayon, la plume, l'encre, l'aquarelle et la sérigraphie, mais son processus de travail commence toujours par un collage initial d'éléments trouvés.
Ses travaux les plus récents s'inspirent de diverses sources stylistiques (allant de Botticelli à la bande dessinée), mêlant symboles et références culturelles de manière ludique et parfois irrévérencieuse.
Le travail de Lebourgeois porte principalement sur les femmes et ses dernières séries sont les plus féministes à ce jour.
Dans "Witches" (2020) et "All Hysterical" (2021), deux collections de dessins sur la répression féminine, elle explore, joue avec, et finalement démonte la stigmatisation, toujours avec un certain degré d'humour mais sans jamais minimiser l'importance de positionner ses sujets féminins comme les véritables porteurs de pouvoir.
Lebourgeois est représentée par les galeries Hang-Up et Jealous à Londres. Elle a également collaboré avec The New Yorker, The Guardian, Le Monde, L'Obs, Amnesty International, Soho House et The Other Art Fair, où elle continue d'exposer chaque année. En 2019, plusieurs de ses œuvres ont été présentées comme street art dans la dernière édition de Need For Speed Heat, produite par EA Games. Elle est exposée dans le monde entier, notamment au Royaume-Uni, à Paris, à New York, à Hong Kong et à Singapour.
Delphine Lebourgeois studied Fine Art in Lyon then went on to complete a Masters in Illustration at Central St Martins in 2005.
She works in various medium including digital, collage, pencil, pen, ink, watercolour and screenprint but her working process always starts with an initial collage of found elements.
Her most recent work draws from various stylistic sources (ranging from Botticelli to comics) mixing symbols and cultural references in a playful and sometimes irreverent way.
Lebourgeois’s work is mostly about women and her latest series are her most feminist to date.
In “Witches” (2020) and “All Hysterical”(2021), two collections of drawings about female repression, she explores, plays with, and ultimately dismantles stigmatisation, always with a degree of humour but never downplaying the importance of positioning her female subjects as the true bearers of power.
Lebourgeois is represented by the galleries Hang-Up and Jealous in London. She has also collaborated with The New Yorker, The Guardian, Le Monde, L’Obs, Amnesty International, Soho House and The Other Art Fair, where she continues to exhibit yearly.
