Lafontine Jeanette
Jeanette Lafontine (born in 1981) is an artist based in Norway with a MFA in medium- and material based art from the Oslo Academy of the Arts.
She uses the landscape motifs as a source for painterly invention, and presents pictorial worlds through both intuitive and controlled gestures. Even though she finds inspiration in the real world, she is not attempting to capture something about a particular place or time. Her paintings are rarely from a specific place, but a result of all the inputs, her sketches and the process itself. Even though her colour palette is not limited to earthy tones, the Nordic landscape often makes itself known. Her work relates to both abstraction and representation, and she is trying to balance between the familiar versus the more incomprehensible. She is interested in the process of making a painting, and her method becomes a search for images.
Soon after she graduated she, was awarded a residency stay at Residency Unlimited in New York, and her work has been shown in exhibitions both at home and abroad. Jeanette Lafontine’s paintings are in several private collections, both in Scandinavia, several countries in Europe, the USA and Canada.

Elle utilise les motifs du paysage comme source d'invention picturale et présente des univers picturaux à travers des gestes à la fois intuitifs et contrôlés. Même si elle trouve son inspiration dans le monde réel, elle n'essaie pas de capturer quelque chose à propos d'un lieu ou d'un moment particulier. Ses peintures proviennent rarement d'un lieu spécifique, mais résultent de toutes les entrées, de ses croquis et du processus lui-même. Même si sa palette de couleurs ne se limite pas aux tons terreux, le paysage nordique se fait souvent connaître. Son travail se rapporte à la fois à l'abstraction et à la représentation, et elle essaie d'équilibrer entre le familier et le plus incompréhensible. Elle s'intéresse au processus de réalisation d'un tableau, et sa méthode devient une recherche d'images.
Peu de temps après avoir obtenu son diplôme, elle a obtenu un séjour en résidence à Residency Unlimited à New York, et son travail a été présenté dans des expositions tant au pays qu'à l'étranger.
