Joannes Amandine
Amandine Joannes vit et travaille actuellement à Paris où elle s’est formée à l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts dont elle est diplômée depuis 2016.
Elle a également étudié la photographie à la School of Visual Arts à New York après l’obtention de la bourse Colin Lefranc en 2014.
Son travail mêle la photographie, le dessin, le texte, la vidéo et l’image d’archive. Depuis 2013, elle est également impliquée dans le monde des thérapies à médiations artistiques en milieux psychiatriques et hospitaliers et poursuit parallèlement une pratique de comédienne.
Son travail est emprunt des fantômes de l'enfance, du lien transgénérationnel, des vases communicants entre l’adulte et l’enfant intérieur.
La mélancolie, la pensée magique, l'errance intérieure de nos images sont des thèmes récurrents dans son travail.

"Amandine Joannès pourrait sans doute parler de sa pratique photographique comme d’un acte boulimique, elle qui accumule et collecte les images, dérobées discrètement dans l’espace public. De l’enfance et de ses inquiétudes, elle cherche à rendre compte par le biais de photographies que l’on aurait pour la plupart peine à rattacher à une période précise : les marqueurs temporels s’estompent, le grain des surfaces transforme les visages et les corps en statues que l’usage du noir et blanc vient magnifier.
Elle recherche autant la grâce que la gravité des attitudes, préférant l’enfance des pensées magiques et des obsessions mortifères à un imaginaire complaisant face à la prétendue innocence infantile.
Ses cadrages sont précis, rapprochés et presque scopophiles, ou viennent opérer des coupes qui sont autant d’incises visant à manifester une catastrophe que l’on devine imminente. Bien maladroit qui voudrait y voir de la nostalgie là où la photographie est avant tout utilisée pour son caractère révélateur ; on ne s’étonnera pas d’apprendre qu’Amandine Joannès travaille uniquement à l’argentique, qui rend avec velouté certains détails d’importance : cheveux flottant au vent, rugosité d’une sculpture rongée par le vent, plissés des jupes ou de draps qui recouvrent un fantôme bienveillant.
Car tout est fait pour que ses images, qu’accompagnent parfois des textes auxquels elle accorde la même importance sémantique, saisissent. Et hantent."

Amandine Joannes currently lives and works in Paris where she trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts from which she graduated in 2016.

Her work combines photography, drawing, text, video and archival images. Since 2013, she has also been involved in the world of artistic mediated therapies in psychiatric and hospital settings and at the same time pursues an actress practice.
Her work borrows from the ghosts of childhood, the transgenerational link, communicating vessels between the adult and the inner child.
Melancholy, magical thinking, the inner wandering of our images are recurring themes in his work.

"Amandine Joannès could undoubtedly speak of her photographic practice as a bulimic act, she who accumulates and collects images, discreetly stolen in public space. From childhood and her worries, she seeks to account by the bias in photographs that we would for the most part have difficulty in relating to a specific period: the temporal markers fade, the grain of the surfaces transforms faces and bodies into statues that the use of black and white comes to magnify.
She seeks both grace and gravity in attitudes, preferring childhood magical thoughts and deadly obsessions to a complacent imagination in the face of so-called infantile innocence.
Its framings are precise, close together and almost scopophile, or come to operate cuts which are as many incises aimed at manifesting a catastrophe which one guesses imminent. Very clumsy who would like to see nostalgia in it where photography is primarily used for its revealing character; we will not be surprised to learn that Amandine Joannès works only with film, which velvety renders certain important details: hair fluttering in the wind, roughness of a sculpture eaten away by the wind, pleated skirts or sheets that cover a benevolent ghost.
