Viel Florian
Né en 1990 à Bayeux, Viel Florian vit et travaille à Paris.
Après avoir réalisé un échange étudiant à CalArts (Los Angeles) et rédigé un mémoire sur l'émergence des plantes dans l'art contemporain, il sort diplômé en 2014 des Beaux-arts de Paris.
Depuis, il a participé à de nombreuses expositions collectives et projets in situ comme Nuit Blanche Paris 2018 ou Embellir Paris en 2019. Il fut l'invité de différentes résidences et s'est engagé dans plusieurs projets auprès de The Tropicool Company.
Lauréat de la Biennale de la jeune création 2016, il réalise dans le contexte d'une résidence de création au centre d'art de La Graineterie en 2017 sa première exposition personnelle No Lifeguard on Duty, soutenue par la Bourse des Amis des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
Pour sa seconde exposition personnelle Etant donnés, en 2019, Viel Florian explore sa démarche artistique sous le prisme des procédés duchampiens à la galerie Laurence Bernard à Genève.
En 2020, il est finaliste du prix Audi Talents. 2021 sera pour lui l'année des collaborations, notamment avec Comme des Garçons et Cointreau.
Démarche artistique :
Ancré dans les questions relevant du tropicalisme, le travail de Florian Viel use des ressorts d'une imagerie construite au travers du prisme occidental.
Entre déconstruction des stéréotypes et désacralisation de l'art, le plasticien développe des oeuvres à l'esthétique lissée, qui évacuent la trace de la main et du geste de l'artiste. Si l'objet dominait auparavant sa réflexion, le dispositif de l'installation occupe aujourd'hui le centre des préoccupations d'un artiste qui s'intéresse au concept d'oeuvre totale, et depuis peu à celui d'oeuvres praticables par le public. Au-delà d'une réflexion formelle, il propose avant tout une expérience. Conscient des problématiques contemporaines, il introduit progressivement un regard éco-logique dans ses œuvres.

Winner of the 2016 Biennial of Young Creation, he realized in the context of a creative residency at the La Graineterie art center in 2017 his first personal exhibition No Lifeguard on Duty, supported by the Friends of Fine Arts scholarship. from Paris.
For his second personal exhibition Etant dons, in 2019, Viel Florian explores his artistic approach through the prism of Duchampian processes at the Laurence Bernard gallery in Geneva.
In 2020, he is a finalist for the Audi Talents award. 2021 will be for him the year of collaborations, in particular with Comme des Garçons and Cointreau.
Artistic approach :
Anchored in issues relating to tropicalism, Florian Viel's work uses the springs of imagery constructed through the Western prism.
Between the deconstruction of stereotypes and the desecration of art, the plastic artist develops works with a smooth aesthetic, which evacuate the traces of the hand and the gesture of the artist. If the object previously dominated his thinking, the device of the installation now occupies the center of the preoccupations of an artist who is interested in the concept of total work, and more recently in that of works practicable by the public. Beyond a formal reflection, it offers above all an experience. Aware of contemporary issues, he gradually introduces an eco-logical perspective in his works.
