Le travail de Silina Syan est issu de ses questionnements autour de la notion d'hybridité culturelle. Avoir le sentiment d'être entre-deux.
Sa pratique est transdisciplinaire, oscillant entre portraits, photo-journalisme, documentaire et vidéo. Dans un rapport autobiographique lié à ses différentes origines, et tout en se questionnant sur son lien avec ces communautés, elle y évoque des souvenirs d'enfance, et se réapproprie une histoire ainsi que les récits racontés par ses parents.
A travers des éléments issus du kitsch, du populaire, de l'ordre du motif, de la surcharge, de l'excès, et une colorimétrie dense, ses œuvres viennent recréer un fantasme, une histoire, un récit ou un lien presque mythologique avec un nouveau lieu, celui des migrations et de l'entre-deux culturel que crée l'exil.
Diplômée de la Villa Arson en 2020, son travail a été présenté au Velvet Moon (Montreuil), au 24-Culturé (Pantin), ou encore à l'occasion du festival Ovni à Nice, et bientôt à Anvers.

Silina Syan's work stems from her questions about the notion of cultural hybridity. To have the feeling of being in between.
Her practice is transdisciplinary, oscillating between portraits, photo-journalism, documentary and video. In an autobiographical report linked to her different origins, and while questioning herself about her link with these communities, she evokes childhood memories, and reclaims a story as well as the stories told by her parents.
Through elements from kitsch, popular, of the order of the motif, overload, excess, and a dense colorimetry, her works recreate a fantasy, a story, a story or an almost mythological link with a new place, that of migrations and the cultural in-between created by exile.
Graduated from Villa Arson in 2020, her work has been presented at Velvet Moon (Montreuil), 24-Culturé (Pantin), or on the occasion of the UFO festival in Nice, and soon in Antwerp.
