Lubar Katherine
Originaire de Dallas, Texas, et basée à Londres, Katherine Lubar a obtenu un diplôme d'études supérieures de la City & Guilds of London Art School. Le travail de Katherine Lubar est influencé à la fois par sa vie en Angleterre et par son enfance aux États-Unis. Originally from Dallas, Texas, and based in London, Katherine Lubar obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma from The City & Guilds of London Art School. She has exhibited at the Vegas Gallery, Arthouse1, Griffin Gallery, Angus-Hughes Gallery, TactileBOSCH and Royal Academy in the UK, and the Victory Gallery and The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in the US. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Department of Education and Employment in the UK and she was shortlisted for the Evening Standard Contemporary Painting Prize in 2017 and for the Wells Art Contemporary in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 she received a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.
Lubar's work is influenced by both living in England and growing up in The United States. The strong light that is present in her paintings and the man-made structures it falls upon is a direct response to growing up in Dallas, with its almost blinding light, intensified by modern buildings and their corresponding shadows, with their straight lines and flat expansive structures. Other important aspects of her work include the interplay between negative and positive space, a concurrence of flatness and depth, as well as investigations into the relationships between colours.
