Après une enfance passée à Fécamp, La Rochelle, Le havre dans un univers marin, je poursuis mes études à l’école des Beaux-Arts de Rouen et Orléans entre les années 1974 et 1980, Via l’école d’Alexandra Palace à Londres en 1976, je vis maintenant et travaille dans mon atelier sur le Canal de L’Ourcq (75019) à Paris.
Mon travail s’articule autour de la photographie, la peinture, le dessin, la video. J’ai commencé par construire des mises en scène miniatures, dans mon atelier, sur une table, qui entretiennent une ambiguïté entre fiction et réalité. Je fais une photo comme je fais une peinture où un dessin, pour emmener le regardeur dans un univers qui pose question ? Où sommes nous ? Est ce que c’est vrai ou est-ce que c’est faux ? j’aime photographier des surfaces qui deviennent des espaces par la présence des figurines posées au milieu de ces évocations de paysages de science fiction. J'ai élargi mon champ de vision et de représentation par un besoin de m’engager plus physiquement dans l’image que je fais. Mes dessins et peintures traduisent une évolution, un prolongement de mon univers photographique, d’ailleurs j’ai inversé le processus et je pars le plus souvent de mes photos pour construire des images ,avec un autre vocabulaire pictural qui parle de la nature ,du quotidien de l’être humain où l’animal positionné dans le paysage qui l’environne : Une verticale qui rencontre une horizontale.
After a childhood spent in Fécamp, La Rochelle, Le havre in a marine universe, I continued my studies at the School of Fine Arts in Rouen and Orléans between the years 1974 and 1980, Via the school of Alexandra Palace in London in 1976, I now live and work in my studio on the Canal de L'Ourcq (75019) in Paris.
My work revolves around photography, painting, drawing, video. I started by building miniature stagings, in my studio, on a table, which maintain an ambiguity between fiction and reality. I take a photo like I do a painting or a drawing, to take the viewer into a universe that raises questions? Where are we ? Is it true or is it false? I like to photograph surfaces that become spaces through the presence of figurines placed in the middle of these evocations of science fiction landscapes. I widened my field of vision and representation by a need to engage myself more physically in the image that I make. My drawings and paintings reflect an evolution, an extension of my photographic universe, moreover I reversed the process and I most often start from my photos to build images, with another pictorial vocabulary which speaks of nature, daily life of the human being where the animal positioned in the landscape which surrounds it: A vertical which meets a horizontal.
