Kettering Johann
Johann KETTERING est un artiste peintre et un pochoiriste né dans la banlieue de Paris en 1975.
Même s’il a consacré une grande partie de sa vie à la musique (batteur de sessions et de tournées), les arts plastiques ont toujours constitué une partie importante de son travail.
Après avoir vécu pendant quelques années à Londres puis sur l’ile de Saint-Martin dans les Caraïbes, il s’est ensuite installé sur la Costa Del Sol à Marbella dans la lumière du sud de l’Espagne. C’est aux forces de la nature, l’ouragan « Irma » ayant dévasté Saint-Martin en 2017, qu’il doit ce changement de résidence.
Après ce bouleversement matériel et personnel, il expérimente ses propres « vents du changement » ressentant l’impérieuse nécessité de l’expression de sa sensibilité au travers de la seule peinture (et ses multiples voies) reléguant la musique à l’arrière-plan.
Après un séjour déterminant à New-York, c’est d’abord le travail précis et rigoureux du stencil dans lequel il s’épanouit. Puis surgit l’appel vertigineux et sans limite de l’arts abstrait avec davantage de matière, la recherche des supports, le mélange de matériaux, les gestes instinctifs… En un mot et par contraste, la liberté !
Viens alors le temps d’une production importante en Bourgogne où il vit aujourd’hui. S’appuyant sur des influences variées (Soulages, Frantz Kline, Richard Serra) Johann KETTERING offre aujourd’hui sa maturité et le résultat de son cheminement empreint d’exigence et d’ouverture au public.

Johann KETTERING is a painter and a stencil artist born in the suburbs of Paris in 1975.
Although he has devoted a large part of his life to music (drumming sessions and tours), the visual arts have always been an important part of his work.
After living for a few years in London and then on the island of Saint-Martin in the Caribbean, he then settled on the Costa Del Sol in Marbella in the light of southern Spain. It is to the forces of nature, hurricane "Irma" having devastated Saint-Martin in 2017, that he owes this change of residence.
After this material and personal upheaval, he experiences his own “winds of change” feeling the imperative need to express his sensitivity through painting alone (and its multiple ways) relegating music to the background.
After a decisive stay in New York, it is first of all the precise and rigorous work of the stencil in which he flourishes. Then comes the vertiginous and limitless appeal of abstract art with more matter, the search for supports, the mixture of materials, instinctive gestures... In a word and by contrast, freedom!
Then comes the time of an important production in Burgundy where he lives today. Relying on various influences (Soulages, Frantz Kline, Richard Serra) Johann KETTERING today offers his maturity and the result of his journey marked by high standards and openness to the public.
