Chitarrini Philippe
Philippe Chitarrini is a minimalist French visual artist, born in 1966, who produces radical painting and sculpture. He studied Plasti Arts and Art History at the University of Aix-en-Provence and is a graduate of ESAAIX (Ecole Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en Provence). He lives and works in the south of France and in Hangzhou where he teaches at the CAA (China Academy of Art).
The juxtaposition of matt and shiny surfaces characterize the work of Philippe Chitarrini. While the matte surfaces radiate calm, the shiny elements, which act like mirrors, draw the environment into the work, creating a passive figurative element. Philippe Chitarrini est un artiste plasticien français minimaliste, né en 1966, qui réalise une peinture et une sculpture radicale. Il a étudié les Arts Plastiques et l'Histoire de l'Art à l'Université d'Aix-en-Provence et il est diplômé de l'ESAAIX (Ecole Supérieure d'Art d'Aix-en-Provence). Il vit et travaille dans le sud de la France et à Hangzhou où il enseigne à la CAA (China Academy of Art).
