Artiste américaine pluridisciplinaire, Brooks Aviva s'inspire du contraste entre les cultures américaine et française, elle explore les interstices, la tension qui sépare - ou unit - le visuel et l'écrit, l'action et la pensée, l'immédiateté énergique et l'élégance distante, le présent et le passé, l'enfance et l'âge adulte, le noir ou le blanc américain et les nuances de gris européennes.
Sur son chemin, elle peint des artefacts du temps qui passe, documentant ainsi le point de basculement où une époque devient le "passé" : cabines téléphoniques, bancs publics, combis Volkswagen, enseignes au néon...
En outre, Brooks Aviva travaille avec des hôpitaux parisiens pour transformer leur environnement en incorporant des œuvres d'art apaisantes et stimulantes dans les salles d'attente, les salles d'examen et les chambres des patients.
A cross-disciplinary American artist, Brooks Aviva draws on the contrast between American and French cultures, she explores the interstices, the tension that separates – or unites – the visual and the written, the action and the thought, the energetic immediacy and the distant elegance, the present and the past, childhood and adulthood, American black or white and European shades of grey.
On her way, she paints artifacts from the passage of time, thus documenting the tipping point where an era becomes the “past” : telephone booths, public benches, Volkswagen "combis", neon signs...
In addition, Brooks Aviva works with Parisian hospitals to transform their environment incorporating soothing and uplifting art into waiting rooms, examining rooms, and patient rooms.
