Le travail de Marcela Barrios est une invitation à dévoiler des univers à travers une écriture intimiste où les territoires et la diversité jouent un rôle majeur.
Marcela Barrios se sert principalement des techniques argentiques, principalement en moyen et grand format, mais aussi des tirages anciens.
Son registre est principalement documentaire et utilise des récits poétiques pour décrire les conflits et la décolonisation des territoires.
Au-delà de sa formation en photographie, Marcela Barrios a également suivi des études de journalisme en Colombie.
En France, elle a obtenu un diplôme en Politiques Comparées à Sciences-Po Aix, ce qui lui a permis d’adopter une démarche sociologique dans son travail.
Marcela Barrios travaille les problématiques du monde méditerranéen et du monde arabe et musulman, car la diversité, le décolonisation, et l’AUTRE, sont au centre de ses recherches.
Son travail a été sélectionné par le Prix Roger Pic de la SCAM en 2019 pour son projet « Bazuko », et lauréat par « The International Women Photographers Award », IWPA, pour le projet "L'Algérie, le géant mystérieux" en 2017.
Ella a été aussi lauréate par le "Prix étudiant Paris Match" et de celui de l'Institut Italo-Latino-américain dans le cadre du Festival International de Photo de Rome.
Aujourd'hui, elle vit à Paris. Membre de l'Agence Hans Lucas, elle est aussi résidente aux ateliers d'artistes du 6B à Saint-Denis.

The work of Marcela Barrios is an invitation to reveal universes through an intimate writing where territories and diversity play a major role.
Marcela Barrios mainly uses film techniques, mainly in medium and large format, but also old prints.
His register is mainly documentary and uses poetic stories to describe the conflicts and the decolonization of territories.
Beyond her training in photography, Marcela Barrios also studied journalism in Colombia.
In France, she obtained a degree in Comparative Politics at Sciences-Po Aix, which allowed her to adopt a sociological approach in her work.
Marcela Barrios works on the issues of the Mediterranean world and the Arab and Muslim world, because diversity, decolonization, and the OTHER, are at the center of her research.
Her work was selected by the Prix Roger Pic de la SCAM in 2019 for her project "Bazuko", and winner by "The International Women Photographers Award", IWPA, for the project "Algeria, the mysterious giant" in 2017.
Ella was also awarded the "Paris Match Student Prize" and that of the Italian-Latin American Institute within the framework of the Rome International Photo Festival.
Today, she lives in Paris. Member of the Hans Lucas Agency, she is also a resident at the artists' studios of 6B in Saint-Denis.
